Setting up email on an iPhone

This walkthrough shows you how to set up an email account on your iPhone.

To get started, select the "Settings" option on your phone and choose "Mail, Contacts, Calendars".

Select "Add Account" and choose the "Other" option, then select "Add Mail Account". (Note: If the "Add Account" option is disabled, please check your Parental Control settings.)

Now you need to enter your account information. Enter your name and email address and the password we've given you, then click "Save". (If you are not connected to a wireless network, it can take up to 5 minutes to continue once you click Save.)

Now we need to enter the incoming and outgoing mail server information. It's a good idea to use IMAP on your iPhone so that you can pick up your email from other email clients (e.g. on your home computer) as well.

Select "IMAP" and enter "mail.yourdomain.com" as the "host name", and your full email address as the "user name". Enter your password as before. Do this for both the incoming and outgoing mail servers (your username and password are required for both). If you receive a certificate error message, click "Continue" to bypass the error - we'll fix this up in a moment.

Congratulations, you have just set up your mail account. We just have a few more settings to tweak and we're done.

Now we need to disable SSL. Return to the Settings option on your iPhone, and choose "Mail, Contacts, Calendars".

Select the account we just created, then scroll to the bottom and select "Advanced".

Then turn off "Use SSL".

Finally, you need to set the rate at which your iPhone downloads your email.

Once again return to the Settings option on your iPhone, and choose "Mail, Contacts, Calendars".

Choose the "Fetch New Data" option and select the time frame that suits you.

Everything should now be set up correctly. To check everything is working correctly try sending yourself an email. If you have any problems, please refer to our troubleshooting guide.
