Do I Really Need A Web Site For My Natural Therapies Practice?
If you've ever heard the old cliches about web sites - that you can be in the global marketplace, and open for business 24/7 - you may be wondering how exactly they will benefit your practice. After all, you're not around to do treatments all through the night, and finding a client in New York is not much good when you live in Sydney. So do you really need a web site for your practice?
What you might not realise is that more and more people are reaching for the keyboard instead of the phone book, to find services like massage therapists. Most people now have the internet at home or at work, and use it as a convenient way to find what they're looking for. So do you want to be one of the therapists that they find in their town? You bet you do!
Often people prefer to look online, because they can find out much more about a business from a web site, than they'd ever find out from the yellow pages. Consider how little room you have to sell yourself in a traditional ad compared to a web site. A web site allows you to explain why your therapy is great at relieving back pain, or how you helped Mrs Jones overcome her crippling migraines. Many people are curious about natural therapies, but they don't really know much about them. A web site lets you educate people about what you do, and how it can help them. A story about how you helped Jack overcome agoraphobia is always going to be more persuasive than a small advert listing your modalities.
Another benefit of a web site is that it can keep sales momentum going. Say someone is looking at your web site late at night, they've read all your great copy that explains how you can fix their problem, and they think "Hey this sounds great, I want to book an appointment with this guy!" They don't need to remember to call you the next morning, they can simply send you an email right there, and you can call them next day. Rather than lose the sale because they forget to call next day, you get the chance to talk with them about their problem, and book them in for that all important first treatment.
Now you know why a web site can help fill your appointment book, can you afford not to have one?
