5 Ways To Grow Your Practice Through Word Of Mouth

Word of mouth marketing is largely about increasing referrals - whether that's encouraging the same people to refer more, or getting more people involved in referring new clients to you. Here are 5 ideas to increase referrals and grow your business by word of mouth.

  1. Giving a great service
Aim to wow your clients. Look at all aspects of your service - from the initial contact, to greeting them when they enter your clinic, the actual consultation or treatment, and the way you follow up with them. Where can you improve? People will be impressed by great service, and that means more referrals.
  2. Ask your clients for referrals
Your current clients already know and trust you. They love your service, and probably know other people who could benefit from seeing you. All you need to do is ask them. The best time to ask is when they're really feeling the benefits of their treatment (this might vary for different modalities, so use your judgement). If they're telling you how great they're feeling now - then it's a good time!
  3. Say thank you for referrals
When someone sends you a referral, take the time to thank them. You can give them a call to let them know you appreciate it, thank them in person, or send them a thank you note. Why bother? It makes the recipient feel good, and makes them more likely to refer again.
  4. Networking
Networking is a great way to meet more people who can introduce new clients to your practice. There are many ways to network - both formal and informal. For example, referral groups, chamber of commerce meetings, business networking groups, or introducing yourself to other health professionals.
  5. Gift certificates
Gift certificates are a superb way to introduce new clients to your practice. Whether you sell them or give them away, they allow people to try your service with little or no risk to them. If you're giving gift certificates away then consider offering a treatment taster for free with an offer to upgrade to a full session for a reduced price.
